Our Purpose & Legacy

Founded in 1992 by Emilio Lopez, Sr. and Roy Lopez, Fiestas Patrias began as a powerful community vision: to celebrate culture, promote education, and bring Bryan–College Station together through tradition, unity, and the arts.
 

For more than 30 years, this legacy has transformed Historic Downtown Bryan into a vibrant celebration of heritage, pride, and community—welcoming thousands of families, students, local businesses, educators, and community leaders year after year.

From the beginning, the organization has carried a deeper purpose: honoring the beauty of Mexican culture, uplifting the arts, and supporting education through scholarships for students, adults, and educators pursuing higher education.
 

Today, BCS Fiestas Patrias builds on that foundation while expanding its impact to reflect the richness of Hispanic cultures across our region—continuing to grow as a celebration that unites, inspires, and creates lasting opportunity.

To preserve and celebrate Hispanic culture while strengthening the well-being, education, and future opportunities of the Bryan–College Station community.

Through cultural events, educational programs, community initiatives, and collaborative partnerships, we aim to promote unity, support youth and families, empower local entrepreneurs, and create meaningful experiences that enrich the cultural, social, and economic life of our region.​
